About

Calvary Baptist Church Beliefs

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. One day He will return in power and glory to judge the world and consummate His redemptive mission.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men who were divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. We believe that all scripture is totally true and trustworthy.

We believe that salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

We believe that the Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer Christ and anticipate His second coming.

What Visitors Can Expect

Our services are attended by people in a variety of attire from jeans to business casual to suit and tie.  Come dressed in the style you prefer for church. Our services start with prayer and singing. We sing, as a congregation, the traditional hymns that come straight from the Bible and speak of our relationship to God, some Southern gospel songs, and some praise and worship choruses. Our pastor teaches a message from the Bible, and he encourages us to read along. He always explains the modern, practical application of the scripture to help us live out our faith during the week. During certain services, we celebrate the Lord's Supper as a symbol of what Christ did for us on the cross. but participation is optional, no pressure at all. A typical service lasts about an hour. Afterwards, church members will happily greet you in the foyer and answer any questions you may have.

Our Church Covenant

Our church covenant describes the responsibilities of church members, how members should relate to each other, and how church members should act and behave in the world.
